Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is a federal program that provides financial assistance to jobless workers and the self-employed when they are unemployed as a direct result of a major natural disaster. A major disaster means any hurricane, tornado, storm, flood, high water, wind-driven water or tidal wave, earthquake, drought, fire, or other catastrophe declared by the President to warrant government assistance to communities and individuals. Small Business Association Disaster Relief Loan

Physical Damage Loans
Loans to cover repairs and replacement of physical assets damaged in a declared disaster.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)
This loan provides economic relief to small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have suffered damage to their home or personal property.

Mitigation Assistance
Funding to cover small business operating expenses after a declared disaster.

IRS Tax Relief in Disaster Situations – IRS offers some tax relief and extensions for fire recovery/federally designated disaster areas.

An affected taxpayer includes:

  • An individual
  • Any business entity or sole proprietor
  • Any shareholder in an S Corporation

A taxpayer does not have to be located in a federally declared disaster area to be an “affected taxpayer.” Taxpayers are considered “affected” if records necessary to meet a filing or payment deadline postponed during the relief period are located in a covered disaster

  • N.M. Wildfire Business Assistance Grant Program

    We have received many applications and are in the process of reviewing them. Applications will reopen if there are still funds available after the first round is complete.

    Eligible businesses can qualify to receive between $5,000 and $20,000. The money available is repurposed from the EDD’s Collateral Assistance Program, which utilizes federal funding.

    Businesses that qualify for assistance must be inside the boundaries of the Presidential Disaster Declaration for the Big Hole, Calf Canyon/Hermit’s Peak, Cooks Peak, and McBride fires. Those areas are Colfax, San Miguel, and Mora Counties, parts of Lincoln County (ZIP codes 88345 and 88312) and Valencia County (ZIP code 87002); and regions of Sandoval and Los Alamos counties, plus other areas impacted by wildfires.

    The application portal will be open until funds are exhausted.
