The Technology and Innovation Office (TIO) offers competitive, non-dilutive grants to support New Mexico small businesses engaged in research and development and in commercializing new technology. Grants focus on technologies in the following sectors: advanced computing (including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and quantum computing), advanced energy, aerospace & defense systems, and bioscience.
NOW OPEN: Targeted Federal Match Grants
TIO is now accepting applications for the Targeted Federal Match solicitation, the first under the state’s new Research, Development & Deployment (RD&D) Fund. It is dedicated to matching funds for a defined set of priority federal programs that align with the state’s technology and innovation priorities and target sectors. State matching funds are available for projects that secure at least $1 million in non-state funding.
SBIR/STTR Matching Grant
Science & Technology Business Startup Grant
The Science & Technology Business Startup Grant awards non-dilutive funds between $25,000 and $50,000 for business development expenses to early-stage New Mexico companies commercializing new technology.
Entrepreneurship Programmatic Support Grant
The Entrepreneurship Programmatic Support Grant awards non-dilutive funds to proposals that support the operational needs of entrepreneurship-focused organizations, including incubators, accelerators, or venture studios. This funding is designated to help organizations sustain, expand, or establish new programs and services that advance innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization.
New Mexico Innovation Hubs Grant
The Innovation Hubs Grant is a competitive state-funded grant that awards non-dilutive funds to proposals for physical infrastructure that support the development, expansion, or improvement of physical spaces or facilities that enable or foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization.
Advanced Energy Award
The Advanced Energy Award gives non-dilutive funds to New Mexico companies developing and commercializing technologies in advanced energy.
Quantum Technologies Award
The Quantum Technologies Award offers non-dilutive funds up to $200,000 to early-stage companies working in quantum technologies that are located in New Mexico or establishing a presence in New Mexico.
