The New Mexico Economic Development Division’s (ED) primary mission is to assist businesses that create job opportunities in New Mexico. Our objective is statewide employment and long-term sustainable growth within New Mexico. Our services range from structuring business deals, offering and assisting with incentives and providing programs for companies. The purpose of this position is to ensure the Director, Deputy Division Director, and ED Division team are supported in accomplishing this mission.

This position is responsible for:

  • Administrative support for Community, Business and Rural Development team who work remotely throughout the state, ensuring that field staff have the equipment and tools necessary to function successfully including vehicles, computer equipment and office supplies.
  • Managing division calendars, coordinating meetings and other logistics.
  • Managing, processing and tracking all travel for ED Division.
  • Maintaining comprehensive data and tracking for ED Division programs utilizing various computer programs and platforms.
  • Administrative support to ED Division directors, including contract and grants management and tracking and procurement.
  • Purchasing and records management/tracking, including processing purchase requisitions, tracking purchase orders and processing invoices, and managing P-card account
  • Responsible for fleet maintenance including WEX cards, vehicle servicing and annual inspections, mileage logs, and vehicle assignments
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent and two years work experience in office administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two years may substitute for the required experience.

This job will require regular use of a state vehicle and occasional statewide travel.

  • Must maintain a current drivers license.
  • Must obtain and maintain a state of New Mexico defensive driving certificate.

Senior Economic Program Coordinator/Technology & Innovation Office (Albuquerque)

The Technology and Innovation Office (TIO) Senior Economic Program Coordinators will facilitate, enable, and encourage innovation development, technology transfer, and the startup, relocation, and growth of technology-based businesses. The TIO Senior Economic Program Coordinator serves as a focal point for supporting and coordinating with technology and innovation sectors and ecosystem stakeholders, leveraging the state’s technological strength, determining the state’s commercial advantage, and collaborating to secure a vibrant technology-based industry network in New Mexico.

The ideal candidate has experience in the following:

  • Balancing multiple priorities and managing a variety of ongoing projects and programs with varying deadlines in a fast-paced work environment requiring flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Business support and/or entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and community and business outreach in technology and innovation.
  • Working in or supporting businesses or entrepreneurs in advanced computing, advanced energy, aerospace, or bioscience.
  • Navigating Federal, State, Local, and private sector business and entrepreneurial resources, particularly existing resources in New Mexico, including but not limited to funding sources, investment opportunities, incubators/accelerators, etc.
  • Familiarity with technology and innovation ecosystems, needs, and opportunities.
  • Deploying quantitative and qualitative analytical skills including but not limited to use of spreadsheets, basic statistical analysis, and identifying key points from written reports.
  • Developing and administering grant programs, including identifying objectives and deployment methods, developing project tracking mechanisms, and overseeing project progress, analysis and reporting.
  • Using excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to relay technical information in layman’s terms, public speaking.
  • Working independently to identify and solve problems with initiative, sound reasoning, and good judgment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, economics, economic development, business administration, finance, public administration, historic preservation, communications/journalism, community development, urban design, urban/regional planning, or any related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in economic or community development programs. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight years may substitute for the required education and experience.

The Technology and Innovation Office (TIO) Communications and Data Specialist administers and manages the division’s communications, program marketing, and internal data metrics. Working closely with the TIO Director, the Communications and Data Specialist position markets and communicates the programs, awards, and announcements of the Office to the public, engages with the technology and innovation ecosystem via marketing and communications, and tracks the data metrics of the Office and its programs.

The ideal candidate has experience in the following:

  • Gathering relevant information. Composing and distributing written materials and announcements
  • Composing clear, well-written, engaging and informational written material, including the ability to relay technical information in layman’s terms
  • Developing and tracking programmatic data metrics for the purpose of impact storytelling and information sharing
  • Strategizing and executing on brand development and marketing
  • Maintaining and updating information on websites and social media accounts
  • Composing and designing informational and engaging e-newsletters
  • Working with ecosystem partners to share information and identify key ecosystem information to be shared
  • Identifying and reaching out to relevant nationwide industry and ecosystem media to generate relevant coverage
  • Proficiency in work management programs for tracking and managing projects and related data
  • Familiarity with the New Mexico technology and innovation ecosystem
