The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD), as part of Senate Bill 112 (SB112) was tasked with oversight in the development of the Sustainable Economy Task Force (SET Force) and the Sustainable Economy Advisory Council (SEAC).
SB 112 requires that the SET Force develop a strategic plan to transition the state economy away from reliance on natural resource extraction. As part of the strategic plan department secretaries of state agencies will occupy all spots on the task force.
According to SB 112, The chair of the task force shall be the secretary of economic development or the secretary’s designee, and the vice chair of the task force shall be the member serving as the chair of the SEAC.
The SEAC is administratively attached to EDD. Its purpose is to advise the SET Force on developing and achieving the goals of the strategic plan provided in Section 2 of this 2021 act.
The Advisory Council meets on the 4th Tuesday at 3pm each month.
