The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) understands that each of New Mexico’s 33 counties has their own unique challenges in creating jobs and growing the economy.
It is important to study each county individually to understand the dynamics of the region and state. That is why in May of 2020, EDD started providing individual economic summaries for each New Mexico county.
This initiative combines data from the Taxation and Revenue Department, Department of Workforce Solutions, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis into an all-in-one report that can assist and guide policymakers as they look to invest in a sustainable recovery after the COVID-19 health emergency.
The county economic reports will be posted quarterly as the newest gross receipts tax data is made available. Gross receipts revenue directly impacts a community’s capacity to provide services and understanding spending trends is especially critical in the wake of COVID-19. The summaries also include employment, domestic product, and wage trend data.
