State awards grants to five New Mexico tech companies
SANTA FE — Five New Mexico technology companies received up to $100,000 in state matching grants to accelerate innovations in space communications, advanced energy, aerospace, and bioscience.
The grants were awarded by the New Mexico Economic Development Department’s Technology and Innovation Office through its Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Matching Grant program, which supports local for-profit science and technology companies that have secured federal SBIR/STTR funding. The grants specifically support scalable startups that can grow and diversify New Mexico’s economy.
“By investing in homegrown companies, we’re fueling the innovation that will power our future,” said Rob Black, EDD Cabinet Secretary. “These businesses are tackling major challenges, from clean energy to national security, and helping build a stronger, more resilient economy right here in New Mexico.”
Companies receiving a $100,000 match for Phase II awards:
Solstar Space Co. (Santa Fe) is pioneering the use of Space Wi-Fi for all types of on-orbit assets. Solstar Space provides a secure internet connection between spacecraft and Earth-based payload managers and satellite operators, and enables communications for crewed missions in sub-orbit, LEO, cis-lunar, and lunar surface operations.
EnviTrace LLC (Santa Fe) is developing cutting-edge Software as a Service tools for artificial intelligence analyses, characterization, and prediction of geologic reservoir processes. EnviTrace focuses on consulting and research related to renewable energy and climate mitigation problems such as energy production and storage, geothermal extraction and utilization, carbon sequestration, and waste management.
Sentiré Medical Systems Inc. (Santa Fe) is developing an intraoperative monitoring device to make the 15 million laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgical procedures performed annually safer, more efficient, and more cost-effective. Sentiré Medical is using cutting-edge gas sensing and detection technology to address the most devastating and costly complications associated with laparoscopic surgery. Sentiré Medical is also a New Mexico Lab-Embedded Entrepreneur Program fellow company.
Companies receiving a $50,000 match for Phase I awards:
Aperi Computational Mechanics Consulting LLC (Peralta) is developing an engineering analysis software that will transform the simulation of extreme events such as explosions, landslides, avalanches, car crashes, and the deformation of earthen structures.
Shearit LLC (Albuquerque) is developing Lamiflo™, a first-in-class, non-drug therapy that physically increases blood flow to the brain during stroke by enhancing red blood cell movement and improving circulation without altering body chemistry. Lamiflo™ preserves brain tissue, extends treatment windows, and improves both patient and hospital outcomes.
