The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) today named Nora Meyers Sackett as director and Lindsay Humphries as associate director of its new Technology and Innovation
Office (TIO), which launches with more than $90 million in state funding to support startups and emerging tech sectors.
EDD names Technology and Innovation Office leaders
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) today named Nora Meyers Sackett as director and Lindsay Humphries as associate director of its new Technology and Innovation Office (TIO), which launches with more than $90 million in state funding to support startups and emerging tech sectors.
“We are grateful to have a strong and experienced team leading this important work for New Mexico’s future,” said Rob Black, cabinet secretary for the Economic Development Department. “Nora Meyers Sackett and Lindsay Humphries have the skills and dedication to help grow innovation and build a tech economy that works for everyone in our state.”
Created through House Bill 20 and signed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham earlier this year, TIO will support startups, drive commercialization of innovation, and grow emerging technology sectors including advanced computing, advanced energy, aerospace, and bioscience.
“Innovation is a key part of our economic strategy and a long-term commitment,” said Nora Meyers Sackett, director of the Technology and Innovation Office. “The breakthroughs shaping our future — like fusion, quantum technologies, and water treatment — are happening now, and we’re investing in the people and ideas that turn those discoveries into real businesses and jobs.”

Sackett leads the TIO with a strong background in statewide economic development and innovation policy. She previously headed EDD’s Office of Strategy, Science and Technology and served as special projects director, advancing major initiatives in advanced energy, aerospace, and federal funding strategies. Before joining EDD, she worked for over four years in the Office of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

Humphries brings extensive experience in managing and growing innovation programs. She previously served as senior program manager at ActivateNM, leading initiatives to support early-stage companies, and as program director at Junior Achievement of New Mexico, where she focused on educating and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
