New Mexico is home to two Department of Energy research labs, the Air Force Research Lab, and White Sands Missile Range (Army). Each of these facilities conducts research related to defense and national security, including cybersecurity.
In addition, Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory are both National Nuclear Security Administration labs and also conduct research in cybersecurity:
New Mexico is also home to three research universities, University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University and New Mexico Tech.
New Mexico provides resources to commercialize technologies born here. Two companies that have started with these technologies are Descartes Labs and RiskSense.
